Mo Whelan was recently interviewed by David Byron for his upcoming book

"Crimson Screams."  He's also the CEO of NVF Magazine (New Videos in

Fiction) and has written several other books.

"Crimson Screams" is a tribute to those who aren't afraid to go all

out when it comes to entrainment in the horror genre by providing the

audience with blood, fear, twisted thoughts and balls-to-the-wall

horror.  Turner Maxwell Books is the publisher.

The interview covers Mo’s experience as an independent filmmaker,

current and past work history,  opinions of filmmaking and modeling,

and of course her future plans.

The book is due to release by the end of February.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Probell Films launches

December 12, 2008 Los Angeles, CA.

Probell Films is an independent production company formed by Patrick O'Bell that specializes in horror and suspense films.  Patrick has over 10 years work experience in various aspects of production, including Director of Photography, Set Dresser and Actor.   Patrick is now concentrating his talents on Directing and Writing feature length films.   He has studied acting for film and theater with highly regarded teachers, such as, Eric Morris and Steve Easton.  In addition to this he was a Fine Arts Major, where he dabbled in still photography, music and drawing.

Patrick appoints Joseph Garcia and Maureen "Mo" Whelan as producers. Joseph has over 10 years experience in IT and as a Computer Systems Manager.  He also studied acting with Eric Morris and Fran Montano.  In addition, he has studied film editing and was a Music Major.  Mo comes to Probell Films with over 13 years experience in animation and post production.  She is currently in charge of film acquisitions at AWNtv.com, an animated short film video portal.  She is also an occasional correspondent for the horror/cult magazine Girls and Corpses Magazine.  The diverse work experience of the trio brings creative yet effective results in a time efficient manner.  They work well as a team and can resolve issues quickly.  No matter what the project needs, they'll figure it out and get it done.

Probell Films is equipped with an onsite non-linear editing system with compositing capabilities, and additional digital video equipment.  This digital intermediate pipeline was built to meet Probell Films digital video needs. Using a digital format is more convenient for the trio because they can shoot on the fly and wrap a scene within a day. Probell also has a large pool of freelance artists, studio contacts and acting talent to choose from for completing projects.  These bonuses are always useful for our ever changing independent film industry.  Probell Films was created out of love for the classic thriller flick, and the trio chooses talent who are also lovers of the same genre.

Probell Films will be launching their first completed film titled "Client 14" at the beginning of 2009 and starting pre-production on two more horror themed films set to be released by 2010. "Client 14" is about a slew of beautiful escorts who are brutally murdered in a local large city. Detectives are baffled by the lack of physical evidence or motive of the unseen Killer.  The events soon traumatize a Private Investigator as he is unable to protect the escorts he befriends. Shot throughout Southern California, the film uses very little artificial lighting to create a very naturalistic, yet artsy look.

Emmy Winner Glenn Campbell Creates Visual Effects for “Client 14”:

Los Angeles, Ca.  May 5, 2009 – Probell Films, the production company for “Client 14” selected Emmy Award winner and Area 51 Visual Effects Supervisor, Glenn Campbell to create a very short-but-sweet effect for a scene in the film.

‘“Client 14” was shot using very little artificial lighting to create
a naturalistic look and the majority special effects were created
traditionally.  We were apt to keep the natural look flowing
throughout the film and didn’t want to add any strong visual effects
that would over power it. However, after reviewing our first
rough-cut, there was a need to add a subtle effect, to make a young perky girl, look dead to create more of a frightening result,’ says producer Maureen “Mo” Whelan.

Glenn Campbell was chosen to create the needed effect because of his many years experience working in the visual effects community.  Not  only is he an expert in his field, but he is also an Emmy Award  winner.  He is capable of creating a simple 5 second effect with his eyes closed and in a time efficient manner.  To create this effect Glenn used Adobe® After Effects®  to roto the girl's face and eyes,  draining them of color while add mixing a desaturated image of a steak over her entire face. The shot was imple, gruesome, and effective.
